hi
just plugged the sdhc card ,from my new d90, into my tv's sd card slot.
it says "unable to open file"
any ideas guys n gals?
cheers

what format are the files? Raw? jpg? what size?

What does the plasma understand? any size restrictions?

how old is the TV,it's probably SD only, my old PV500 wouldn't read SDHC but the new one does :)

thanks for the quick replies.
files are jpeg.
tv is only a year old and used to read files from same card from my sony (point n shoot) .

sorry folks.
i think i have wasted your time.
i have just read in the d90 manual that:
"cards formatted on a computer must be re-formatted in the camera before use":bonk::bonk::bonk:

luckily i hav'nt taken any "stunning" shots yet. in fact they are all Hmmm... you know!
time to start again.
thanks again , anyway.

I've never had a problem with that - I still reckon it's because of the SDHC. I had to buy a different reader for my computer which is only just over a year old.

As above, it's either the SDHC card or the resolution - My Pioneer (admittedly getting on a bit now) probably can't read any card 4GB or bigger (including SDHC), and definitely can't handle any image 4MP or bigger. I have a PC connected up to it, so it's a non-issue for me, but still.

just re-formatted card in camera and took a couple more shots, still dont work.

tv spec does state compatable with sdhc!
cant see it being file size because my sony dsc-w100 is 8.2mp and i never had a problem with that!
this is a pain as i purposely went for a camera that uses sd for this reason :(

only difference being the files from sony were transfered from memory stick to sd via pc.

just loaded a shot (taken with d90) onto card from pc.
that worked fine.
it just wont read anything put on card directly from camera!!

something to do with the file path on the card? Where does the camera put the images compared to where you put them manually - do they need to be in the top level directory or anything?

re-formatted for 2nd time in camera.
it works fine now.
many thanks for the replies

pity they dont include one in the bundle.:(

£2.99 in Lidl when I bought mine, don't spend any more on a HDMI cable because it's the biggest con going, HDMI is digital, it either works or it doesn't, a £50 cable isn't going to give a better picture despite what the salesman in the shop says

that is cheap.
i totally agree about digital cables. had same issue with a optical (toslink), for my DAC/HP amp. freebie sounded identical to £40 cable, so the £40 cable was swiftly returned. i think the only advantage was stronger construction. so if you are constantly plugging and unplugging it may last longer.
cheers for the tip , i will look in our local Lidl over the weekend.
