No
I have just grabbed a second hand D90, the camera is superb really compares well to my old d300. The AF seems to be very noisy (slight squeaking noise) compared to the d700 though, same lenses are way smoother sounding on the d700.

is this normal due to it being a cheaper camera or should i be getting it looked at by nikon? it still has the 1st year warranty left from the previous owner.

Mine does not squeek. Its a little noiser when it has to power a lens without an internal motor, but I certainly would not call it noisy.

it only makes a noise while using the screw focus, and is much noisier than the d700, and like i say it squeaks slighty

Just tried it with a screw focus lens and the camera motor is noiser than a lens motor. Cannot say if it noiser than a D700 as I don't have one.

However there is no squeeking, just the whirl of the motor

thats whats worrying me i have never noticed this from my primes before this camera, it might be the gears need oiling or summat

Its in warrantee so send it back to Nikon

i think i may do that tbh

just an update, it seems i wasn't going mad and with help from 'retired' nikon have replaced the af drive free under warranty, phew! :)
