D90 / Tamron 28-75 focus issues

Howdy folks :wave:,

I have a Tamron SP AF ASPHERICAL XR Di LD IF 28-75mm 1:2.8 MACRO lens which I think has developed a bit of a focussing problem.

When it's right this lens is tack sharp and I have many hundreds of beautiful pictures taken with it but just recently it has started to miss focus by a smidgen. I've tried the usual tests using a newspaper tacked to the wall and maybe 3 out of 10 shots are off. Not much ... but enough :thumbsdown:

Has anyone else with this lens experienced this problem?

Thanks for the reponse. No, neither the body nor lens have taken a knock. I've learned to be very careful as the body did take a tumble last summer but it went back to Nikon for a complete check over - it got a clean bill of health - and there are no problems with my other lenses.

I'll ask one of the guys at my camera club to try it for me. Thanks for the suggestion :)
 
Sorry I can't help with the problem, but how do you find the wide end of the 28-75 on the D90? I have a 17-50 Tamron, and thought to switch to a 28-75 as I could use that on my D700 also. Do you find its not wide enough at times?
 
I know its not the same lens but I have developed a this problem with the tamron 70-300 and d5000 combo. It's definitely the lens in my case.

No, it's definitely not wide enough at times. Last evening I was shooting at a local sailing club and having to back away in order to get the top of the masts in shot nearly ended with me stepping backwards of the quayside :gag:

That was a fairly unusual scenario for me though as I'm mostly a people shooter and then it's fine ... even excellent :clap:

I am going to be keeping an eye on the focussing issue though.
