D90 to D800 advice

so I've finally got enough money to upgrade to the d800 but I'm not sure weather to go for second hand or new?
what are the cons to second hand that people have had?

Only issue I can think of is if you need to use the nikon warranty as that'll be in the buyers name. If the camera has none of the issues present in the D800 like the left focus issue as an example, I doubt you'd have any issues really. Just make sure the seller is willing to assist if you do indeed go second hand and need to claim on the warranty.

Are there many second hand D800's around!?!?!

The main one is obviously the lack of guarantee and not really knowing it's history. Given it's such a new camera I'd be a little suspicious of anyone selling one off.

The OP has agreed to buy one from here at a decent price, the only problem would be the warranty and if the left focus was tested for. As with anything second hand it is caveat emptor. I'd buy with more confidence from here than ebay or other forums.

Make sure that it has been tested properly for the left focus problem I initially did not think my camera had a problem until I did more thourough tests. Thankfully mine has been sorted by Nikon and it now has no problems at all.
