D90 too grainy

You sure you're actually shooting at ISO250, and it's not in auto-ISO mode?

links to a full size jpeg would be great, can't really tell much from a resize :(

I can - it's as grainy as getout - wouldn't expect the D90 to even be that grainy at ISO 1600...

Is this a jpeg straight from the camera? I can only think of the noise being introduced through PP. Was the original image underexposed in any way?

I'd second a reset, see if that works. If not, I think it's send it back time. :(

Have you got the quality setting at 100% when you're resizing ?

The pictures aren't really big enough to show grain imo.....you should post 100% crops, at maximum quality and don't adjust the exposure or apply noise reduction

If that's out of the camera, it looks like you've increased the brightness a hell of a lot in your resized images because the originals are underexposed. That's what's bringing out the noise. :)

good good, i'd always like to be sure i'm not looking at compression artifacts etc but as long as you're on the ball i'll lay back and let you do the work :)

Could be you had it on spot metering which has exposed where the sun is hitting the background.

Given how much you've lightened that image I'm not surprised it's grainy...

I had it set on centre weighted average metering and I think you are right I have relied on the power of raw too much on this one if I look at some of the other pics I took today they look ok

Looks to me like a woefully underexposed image has been "recovered" in photoshop and has brought out all the noise in doing so.

Try getting the exposure right at the point of taking the picture and you'll be fine

Also - if the EV shows +2.0 it means you've effectively increased the effective ISO by 2 stops. So ISO 250 becomes 1000 and that's why it looks grainy.

I have reduce the size and quality to fit the forum requirements

Try hosting elsewhere that you can put the full sized version of the image with the quality intact rather than storing them on the forum?

Most ISPs provide webspace with their accounts, which almost no-one uses.
