Damaged SD Card - can you help ?

my wifes card has got the small plastic 'lock' tab broken off.
She has some really good family images on there we want to keep.

obviously 1st thing i tried was on PC but cannot cut pics off card.
I'm not worried about the card but would like to images off it.
I've also tried a pin in the slot where the slider would be but there seems to be no internal part that it was connected too, to slide across.

Any ideas ?

it shows pics, but cannot copy or cut off.

Get a piece of sellotape and cover up the space left by the little slider thus making the edge smooth.

The switch is only a write protect switch, it should'nt be stopping you copying the pictures off the card.

What software are you using ?

have now copied all pics off it onto pc but camera will not accept it.
comes up with 'card locked' as soonn as i turn it on.

You need to wrap the sellotape around the edge of the card and cover where the switch would be. The sellotape will be on both sides of the card

I have a 2gb card where the switch broke off I will try the sellotape trick on that thanks!

Toss the card and buy another one. They're pretty cheap, and there's no reason to take chances with it.
