Dance Show

Anybody got any advice re photographing an indoor stage show,

ie iso guidelines, lens choice, positioning, Jpeg or RAW

images will be used for PR on dance troops website, & parents may buy a few,

I appreciate that additional info will be required to advise best, and will do my best to facilitate by reply...

I may also be asked to photograph a dance show soon, as a friend of mine runs a dance school and has mentioned it. while I am confident in my ability, I would like to know others opinions too...

Well a few things to consider...

Main thing, lighting in the room, light, dark etc...
Tungsten/Fluorescent lighting....
Can flash be used....
Speed of dancing for setting shutter speed...

I would shoot in raw as you can adjust white balance and pull back shots underexposed...

Really need more info...

Did dress rehersal last night & results were mixed, most importantly lighting was low, flooded with Red, Blue with little or no white light, very mixed results,

when good very good indeed but the bad ones were unspeakable !

I Shot in RAW as I always do for anything other than Social Balls & Events, choosing to edit after the job,

Totally misunderstood the kit required, I had to use emergency 17-40l just to fit in groups, & just in case "50mm" came into play & although i got a few great shots with 100-300f2.8 it was not practical,
