Obviously id love to take one out to dinner, but you cant ask her age surely.....?

Is there a code or number on a camera body (canon 5d) that i can use to date the camera? Im looking at one on ebay that the owner claims to have purchased at the same time as the MkII came out, looks like it will go for around £750 ish (well, this is my limit anyway)...

Thanks

Richard

Not too sure on that one,but i picked one up from Ffordes for £749 gripped with charger & 5 batts,manual,software+6 months warranty.:)

Hmm, ill see what they have in stock. Prices for these seem to fluctuate massively between £600 and £800, i thought id be able to pick one up fairly easily for £675

:shrug:I think with the MK11 out now people know they can sell the MK1 no problem now & its bumping the prices.

I know that the productions with serial numbers 0********* and 1********* had problem with the off-color LCD, and Canon fixed this problem by using a new version of the LCD, and updated the serial number to 2********* there is also the mirror fixing problem on early models.
The vey latest would start 3*********

So I would say best to avoid anything starting with 0 or 1
