Day off work... London Zoo birds

Not a fan of seeing animals in captivity, but still wanting to see some animals, I begrudgingly rode my bike down to London Zoo today on a day I'd decided to take off. I hadn't taken any proper photos in about 2 weeks and I was just itching to start snapping away again.

Armed with my Canon 40D, Sigma 70-300mm, 50mm F/1.8 and a monopod, I paid out £17 for a ticket and braved the masses of school kids and tourists. In this thread I've added the birds shots, but there is another thread where I have 'everything else' posted - animals, reptiles, etc.

C&C welcome!

Nice Glossy starling Mike they are a nightmare to photograph. I quite like the Weaver ( I think it is) as well (y)

10 is an incredible colour! lovely work.

Hi Mike, Great set(y)

What is the first one called please? I took one like that a couple of years ago, not as good as yours but never mind.

Don't think it's a bird from the UK... I'm useless with bird identifying. I will post on the Bird Identifier group on Flickr to find out....

Its one of the "glossy starlings"

Thanks I will look them up now i have a starting point.

I took several in Kenya, they were so cheeky coming into the lodges to pinch food. I havent seen the name of it anywhere, to be honest did try but gave up.
