Dead Epson V700 scanner

My V700 scanner is not showing any signs of life, no lights, no sound when switched on. Power appears to be present according to my volt stick (multi meter test next).

My local Epson 'repair' facility said they don't actually repair scanners "nothing on them to repair". They tell me if it's not the power supply it's a scrapper. Seems a bit of a waste.

Anyone had similar problems ? Did you resolve them ?

There doesn't seem to be much info. in Googleland.

seems very odd considering the price of them. Id ring round some real repair places.

The place I rang is my local Epson Express Service centre
"Epson's network of independent computer specialists offer authorised repair services and stock a comprehensive range of the latest Epson products."

I may try further afield, failing that I'll take it apart and 'poke and hope'. But if someone's already done it then it can save a lot of grief.

I'd try another psu with it.

Its 3-4 years old (time goes by quickly these days) from new.

PSU is probably worth a try for starters.

Coming back to this -

After a long Xmas break I ordered a new power supply from http://www.stuff-uk.net and all is now well, scanner works as before.
I think in future I'll unplug the power supply completely rather than leaving it connected and relying on the scanner on/off switch.
