My Epson stylus 900 that I have had quite a while as just died, it as given my fairly good photos at very low cost, (none epson inks), I have another printer Lexmark X6570 WI-FI, this I use for my business, but it does not give the same photo print quality, Lexmark ink is very expensive for A4 prints, looking for a printer that will give good quality prints, and does not cost the earth to ink up.

What are the main things I should be looking at? I now manufactures ink is one thing, not really interested in A3 or another WI-FI, another Epson would be good, looked at reports in one mag last month on £50:00 printers.. are they as good as they say, or do I need to go higher for hobby use.??:help:

I find an epson with a CISS ink system is very good, I use an R200 with CISS..

In what way has your Epson died? Sometimes they stop working because the waste pads are due renewing and all you have to do is reset the counter (and keep an eye out for ink leaking out of the bottom ;) ).

I have a epson R1400 (A3) and an epson RX685 (a4 all in one)

Both printers run on CISS and it costs about 7p a cartridge.

Some people on here dont like CISS and think its mroe trouble than they worth, but I have had no problems with mine and have been running on both printers for over a year

If it wasn't dead, it is now, tried to look inside myself, dustbin day tomorrow.
The row of red lights were flashing in a sequence, the fault finder stated that this is "an unknown fault and I should take it to an Epson dealer" as I said I have had it quite a while and was purchased for producing invoices before I started with photograph, so now I have an excuse to undate......thanks anyway
