My Seagate hard-drive is working in terms of spinning / making normal noises.

However, its not being recognised by any computer.

Any help or advice appreciated.

P.S it was bought in November 2009. And was formatted to be workable on both PC and Mac and has worked fine on both since November.

Kind regards

Sarah

Try a different USB cable, same happened with my card reader to my macbook, wouldn't recognise, new usb and it was fine.

Is it in a pc or in a external enclosure?
If in a pc does the bios pick it up? have you checked that the data cable has not come loose? I assume it's sata, rare for a cable to pop out but they can fail.

If it's in an external enclosure then if the pc it is usually connected to runs Vista then try it on an Xp box as sometimes vista can bodge the file table if an error occurs during "safely remove"

If trying another cable don't forget to check another port on the machine as well, good luck
