Afternoon all,
I purchased a Shuttle KPC K45 2 years ago to run as a Windows Home Server. Within a year the motherboard failed, the unit was RMA'd, repaired and returned. Within a year of this repair, the motherboard has failed yet again, was RMA'd (to my suprise as it was out of warranty). So I've probably spent about £20 just on posting the thing back twice.
The supplier then wanted to charge me half the original purchase price to replace the motherboard (including £15 fitting - for a about 6 screws). When I laughed down the phone at him, he said they would waive the testing charge (the one they hadn't told me about when they issued the RMA number).
I've conveyed my displeasure and asked that they come up with a suitable remedy, rather than just return it to me (which is all they want to do). They have apparently "contacted" Shuttle and have not recieved a response.
At this stage (having been without my WHS for some time), I'm more than a little frustrated and I'm not sure how best to proceed. I wondered if anyone had ever dealt directly with Shuttle (they don't have a UK office, the closest is Germany) and got a satisfactory resolution to a problem.
Alternatively - does anyone know of a SFF motherboard which can be used to replace my currently defective one? Has to be able to take at least a Core2Duo Intel chip (perferably a Quad) and lots of RAM.
Thanks in advance.
Paul.
