deadline shooters?what card reader?

I just use a Sandisk one that came free with an 8gb card.

I think it's more the speed of the card and your USB port that will make a difference, though saying that the inbuilt readers in laptops are slow as anything.
 
Currently my card reader is super slow, never used to be. Downloaded 22 images in the time It took me to go downstairs and have a muller corner yogurt. So I plugged my camera direct to the USB 1.1 port and RAW 200+ images downloaded before I could finish eating my apple.

LexarPro thing, USB 2. Its way faster than Lightroom is.
 
Lexar Firewire reader...though since getting Snow Leopard (OSx 10.6) it seems not to work.
