When will fauxtogs ever learn? You just can't go stealing other tog's images and putting them on your website (especially when you forget to erase the watermark lol) :bang:

You'd think these guys aint heard of Meg Kunert!

Anyway I'm copying the victim's FB status message here:

IMAGE THEFT

Normally in the situation I'm about to describe I'd be calm, composed and collected and I'd deal with this quietly in a very calculated manner with a firm email to the offending party.

But not today.

Today the straw broke the camels back so to speak, and I'm simply fed up... no, I'm seething(!) that this continues in our industry despite all of the noise made about stealing people's work on various websites and forums. I am disheartened that my friends are having to quash image theft on a near daily basis as well as having to myself for one reason or another regularly.

This particular chap has seen fit to steal my work from facebook and my website and use it on his own website (with my watermark still on the images!?! (Moron)) and make out that he is the author. In one of the galleries he has actually stolen 2 separate weddings and showcased them as 1.

So I'm not normally one for one for outing people but I feel its my duty help defend fellow photographers who work their butts off to learn, to educate themselves, and push their own personal boundaries. Not to mention the blood, sweat and tears that goes into running a business that needs marketing and ultimately a business that we make a living from! In addition and equally important, the memories of our couples who have paid their hard earned wages to have these created are violated. There's no other word for it.

So, here are the offending galleries:

Here are MY originals:

Look familiar?!

THIS NEEDS TO STOP!
If you recognise any of your own then feel free to contact him in any manor you see fit.

If photographers ever needed to pull together to help stop this from continuing, then its now guys!

They've gone, do you know where there's a cache available of them?

Do you have screenshots to share.

Can't see the offending images. Must have been removed....

Who's Meg Kunert?

Have you been living in a cave?

She's a quite good American photographer who decided the best way to kick start her business was to rip off photo's and entire blog posts from other photographers. Which resulted in every photographer in the world queueing up to slate her on facebook just last week.

It was interesting to watch - she went through hoping that Jesus wouldn't hold it against her too much, apologising and eventually giving up.

If all of the people moaning about getting their images used on websites and on other peoples facebook page don't post their images on the internet where they can be taken from then no one else would use them. I've got about a dozen images on Flickr but I've got over 40,000 photos on my hard drive. As I'm not a pro and couldn't care a jot if people use my Flickr photos then they can stay there.
On the times I've been asked to do a particular shoot there is none of them on the web at all. Those images were taken to order and they will remain private. I think there is somewhere in the region of 20-30 photos on my facebook page, and amazingly enough the only one I've uploaded is my profile pic. I don't use any social network sites now as I find them very boring and I have my account parked, but on the very few occasions I need to sign in to find something I often find new photos in there that I don't upload. And here's me thinking I'm supposed to be the only one able to upload them.

hahahahahahaha

dont buy a car and leave it outside your house or people will steal it

dont buy a house then nobody can break into it

dont go to work and earn money in case someone steals your wallet

the list is endless what a completly daft way to stop image theft..

That's certainly one way to look at it :)

And no-one would probably book them as photographers either...

Uploaded? Are you sure they are not pictures you are tagged in? In which case they are actually on someone else's page and they've just shared them with you so you can see them (you just untag yourself and they are no longer displayed on your page.)

An interesting situation that Phil has summarised well. I say interesting as the baddie photographer has now gone out of business, the "victim" has had her profile go through the roof, has quadrupled her Facebook fans and her Twiitter followers and no doubt will be doing very well from all the publicity.

If someone from another country would liked steal my pics and pass them of as their own.........

That would be really great for all the professional photographers on here that rely on there images being visible to prospective clients in order to induce them to make contact, we're not living 30 years ago when people have physical portfolios to show off to clients and that clients would meet a photographer just to check out there style/quality  so not putting them on the web is going to be an issue..

Heck to be an active part of this forum you ideally need to be putting images online on a regular basis :suspect:

Matt

Some of the galleries have been taken down but there is more. Its not just Sanjay's photo's that were ripped but few others too who have now found out.

These are Sanjays (still up):
