Decent backup Flashgun

Hello,

I currently use an SB-800 but I know that it is always possible that it may fail on me. So i'm looking to have a back up. I have maybe just a little over £100. Can anyone recommend a 3rd party make that will be a good decent equivalent?
There are so many different brands out there I dont want to make the wrong choice.

I have the metz for my Canon and Sunpak for the Nikon which I use with my Metz 45 CL4_digital, both are superb

Thanks Jeremy,

Just one question. Are they able to be commanded remotely via the pop up flash like the SB-800? I cant see anywhere saying it can.

You could also have a look at the Nissin Di622. I've got a canon one for the wife for her 550D and it's a great flash for the money. Similar specs to the mid range canon own brand at half the price, I got that one off ebay for £95 a couple of months ago and IIRC it's wireless enabled. I know the Nissin Di866 is and I'm sure the 622 is as well.

You can pick up an SB600 for just over £100 second hand these days. Could be a good option?

Right I got a little more money for christmas and can afford a little more.
Do you think a Nissin Di866 Mark II would be a good purchase? After reading on here I have not seen much negative feedback about them!

The Nissin looks like a good piece of kit, but I'd go down the Nikon route and either get a used SB600 or a used SB800. The Nissin is £185(ish) so if you can go higher, get an SB700 - £229 at the moment and a very, very good flashgun.

I picked up an as-new SB700 on here a few months back for £180, highly recommended and I'm tending to use it more than the SB900 it was intended as back-up for! Like the clip on filters, and I understand the SB-910 clip on filters will work on the SB900 as well so I'll look into getting a set of those next year.

Nissin di622 mk11 is cracking value for money I paid £100 for mine off here and it's got all the power I need or want and it is wireless. In fact thinking of getting a second one.

Well I can gat a Di866 for £179 and thought it was a good price but that was stretching a little more then I really wanted so I don't want to pay any more then that!
