Decided on a trip to Surprise View

Possibly it being clear blue skies is working against you slightly. It is lovely to be out in those conditions and I like the way the light backlights the heather etc but it then gives you a bland sky with a difficult exposure into the sun.

The final shot is the best composition, works nicely for me, only thing to watch is the haloing behind the trees.

I quite like No2 actually, subtle lighting and glow on the horizon. Nice lighting on the heather in No4 but the slower shutter speed has got the trees waving at you, I think a bracketed shot would have sorted that one.
I'll be up there plodding around soon, so nice to see the heather is starting to flower!

The final one for me is by far the best, on the whole a beautiful scene, well composed and great light. If you have another of the same composition but with the whole of that upper cloud and the top of the tree it may be even better. The only other thing I'd say is the horizon doesn't look level in the final two images
