finally decided to go for the Nikon D90. the dilemma is do i go with the kit lens or do i buy the body only and by a non kit lens. if i go with non kit what lens would be a good buy. will need it to do portrait and landscape with a little fashion work.

all advice welcome as usual. ;)

Why not go for the kit lens then either:

1) See what focal lengths you use most and get something faster or better in that range. Sell the kit lens to help fund it.
2) Get the lens you want now, work out what the value of the kit lens is S/H and see if it works out in your favour if you sell it right away.

Enjoy.

What is the kit lens..?

loadsamoney - 24-70 af/s
onabudget - 18-70 af/s

at least your not asking for a lens that does macro, landscape and birds...

18-105mm VR
Good choice on the selection I would say.

If you're doing portrait work, landscape, that lens is sufficient.
I find this lens to be fairly adequate without breaking the bank.
