I need some help with a final purchase. Here are the options:

1. Nikon 60mm VR macro lens G (new)
2. Nikon 105mm VR macro lens G (2nd hand - mint)
3. Nikon D300 (2nd hand) - but will take another month to save the additional money

Thoughts?

what are you shooting/what do you want to shoot??

Well if you blow your money on a new camera instead of a macro lens, then you won't be shooting much macro.

If you want a one lens does both solution I'd drop the 60mm Nikon and consider the Tamron 90mm alongside the Nikon 105mm. The Tamron is very nice for portraits (though not quite as nice as a dedicated 85mm prime lens), whilst being excellent for macro.

A bit of an odd choice, an new body or a macro lens????

Perhaps a more general rethink of what you want to try and achieve is needed?

I have other lenses :)

Basically the kit I want to get is:

new body
105mm macro lens
300mm prime

just trying to decide the order the in which to get, as money is becoming tight. So I can possible buy one expensive lens or the body, or maybe a a cheaper lens (60mm) and the body.

Not that odd, I dont think... hopefully the above explains a little better...

Something like this 85mm?

have decided to go for the 2nd 105mm for now... since its a reduced price, I should be able to get the body soon as well.

d40x will have to do for now.
