Decision time

I've been looking at getting a DSLR again and plumped for the Canon 500D body as it suits my needs pretty much down to the ground.

I intend to do mainly indoor available light portraits and have been looking at lenses (I have the long end of things sorted already).

So far my choice is between getting the 85mm F1.8 and a 50mm F1.8 for closer shots or a sigma 24-70 F2.8 zoom.

I really wanted to get as fast a glass as practicable this time round as this will be the set up I will have to stick too from now on.

Any advice, experience or idea's?

I would love the 85mm myself.I 've used the sigma 24-70mm albeit the older version with 82mm filter on the front.

My copy had focussing problems but i still love sigma lenses.I suppose the newer version would be alot better.
