ok so here's my query, im choosing between the nikon 35mm and the nikon 50mm both f1.8 models, the 35 mm is about £75 more, is it worth the extra money???? i no it will be closer to what my eye sees, i think it looks better (which is a bonus to me :p ) but is it really worth the £75 i could be putting towards my computer?

It depends TOTALLY on what you want to shoot wth it. And since you haven't told us, we can't really help you decide.
 
for general holiday stuff, I'd have the 35mm, but neither of those are lenses I'd pick for sports.
 
no there not specifically for that, but they do have some uses in sport due to the fast shutter speeds and sometimes i use my camera in darker places n i cant afford a nice big fast zoom lens.
also forgot to say, i do art g.c.s.e and will be doing photography A-level, they think showing depth of field is an A* technique at G.C.S.E, so having something that does it well is a bonus due to easy marks :)
 
I have the 35mm AFS, and to be honest if you are shooting in bright conditions it does suffers from quite obvious chromatic aberration and fringing.

That's depressing. I was considering A level photography, but if the ability to open a lens wide open and use a distant background is considered A*, I doubt I'm going to get anything out of that course.

no thats only in gcse, mainly because they only start to teach it at a-level, worth asking a specific teacher though, could be just because my teacher aint the sharpest with a camera, she refused to believe that when you stretch an image you lose quality :bang: and kept aking me why im not using photos that are clearly blown out, underexposed or just boringo well im hoping to get a better teacher for a-level
