Deleted files in PS still in windows?

As a bit of a follow on to my missing 100gb thread I noticed that jpg's I had deleted in PS are still in windows? Does this mean that for every file I have in PS there is a duplicate.....? Apologies if this is an obvious question!

no the original file is in windows and photoshop copies them to the program. if you want to delete them you have to find the original file,usually in my pictures or whatever you named them and delete from there hth mike :thumbs:
 
If you delete a file in PS it usually asks you if you want to delete the file off the hard drive as well. click the box when it asks this and it will delete the two.

Doesn't it? When I delete mine that way they are gone.........unless they are hiding somewhere that I don't know about.

check back to the folders and see if they have the deleted files in them for some reason the also delete from hard drive does,nt work :shrug:

edit: try this go to photo shop search hard drive for photo,s all the deleted ones including the also delete from hard drive come straight back in to ps
 
Mine appear to have gone dinorock. Just checked some folders and they are gone from there too, on my PC and on an external hardrive that I use! Will have a play later and see if I can get any of them back.

i thought thats what they should do but they are still there when i go back only way to get shot of duffers is to find the file and delete from there thats on my system any way (elements 6) :shrug: just checking i may have auto backup enabled which prevents me from deleting from elements (completely):bang:
 
Thanks, I will have a play tomorrow! I only noticed because I am loading elements 8 soon and thought I would have a sort out first. I do see that message re 'do you want to delete from the hard drive' and always select yes!
