dell inspiron 1545 vs HP dm1-4027

Hey peeps,

I'm thinking of getting a new lappy, I saw one in pcworld which is the HP dm1 for £329 and is perfect for me because it is windows 7 and a 12" screen and acts like a powerful netbook so it's great for me as I think the more portable the better. what I'm asking is that is it going to be as good or better than my current dell inspiron 1545 that's two years old? I'll place the important specs below;

Dell inspiron 1545

intel pentium t4300 @ 2.10ghz
3GB memory
250GB HDD
1GB integrated intel graphics chipset

HP dm1-4027

AMD fusion e-450 @1.6ghz
4GB memory
320GB HDD
ATI Radeon 3610M

Now I do graphics/photography work (photoshop/dreamweaver/illustrator) and my current dell is really nice for it but I suppose I just want a new laptop, not after alternatives or anything just purely wondering whether I should get the HP with the 12" screen or whether I should just keep my current dell and get a memory upgrade and tempted to get a sandybridge processor (i3) and yes before you ask i know how to do it cos I'm on an IT apprenticeship so yeah upgrade my current laptop or get the HP which is best?

Dell by a long shot. The processor is about 2x as powerful as the AMD.

BTW, you won't be able to drop an i3 SandyBridge into any older PC/laptop. Different number of pins to older boards

But then you should know all this as you're on an IT apprenticeship...

yeah I didn't think I could but weren't 100% so needed a second opinion. Although could I apply my theory to getting a core 2 duo processor as technically it should be the same socket type as the pentium?

I wouldn't like to upgrade a laptop. It's likely to be flow soldered onto the board. Unless you have specialist equipment, it won't really matter if it's pin-for-pin compatible...
