Anyone got a Recovery CD for a Dell Inspiron Mini 1010 with XP?

Grandchildren's netbook has been messed up and I think boot ini file or something has been corrupted - XP starts up but then throws to BSOD ... and to top it all their recovery CD has been 'mislaid'!
If anyone has a recovery CD that they could copy for me to enable a repair I would be most grateful and would of course cover any costs.

Does it have an SSD hard drive? I seem to recall mine (mini 9) doing this when the SSD hard drive released it's magic smoke (was a few years ago though so could be wrong).

Do you definitely need a cd to recover, on some dells you dont.

Try pressing F8 as soon as you see the dell logo when you turn it on, in the advanced boot menu their should be an option to repair your computer, follow that through till you get to dell image recovery.

Havent used any of their netbooks so may not work but worth checking.

Unfortunately this model doesn't have a recovery partition (it's a 160GB HDD I believe) so can't be recovered from itself.
It might work by doing an XP repair but without an available XP CD that isn't possible either. Unfortunately none of these type of machines ever seem to come with a CD of the operating system

That's for US only but maybe UK has availability too - can't find any similar option on the UK Support website though.

If you need an XP home disc then let me know and i will post you one. Obviously you will need an external dvdrw unit.

That would be very kind, the disk should enable a repair to be made to the boot system - I'll pm you.

Sorry i didnt even think to look at that, it was just one of the first things to come up in google. If they`d do it for the US though they might do it over here too.

I've had a disk off them before free of charge

they might still do them , worth a phone call

Certainly worth a phone call, though hopefully a simple Windows repair will do the trick.

I've got a disk you could have if your other offer falls through

Received today, many thanks - I also made the call to Dell as you suggested and guess what. They told me they would collect it and repair it foc, inc one of the keys removed by one of the grandchildren - service or what!
The disk will now be kept safely just in case they mess it up again.
