Dell Monitor - what do you think

Looking at changing my workstation (at last) and happy now to go with Dell again. Just wondering what you guys think of this monitor, is it too pricey for what it is and with it being factory tuned for SRGB etc this would hopefully mean no more calibrating? I was wanting a larger monitor this time round but the jump from 24-27" looks costly!

Thank you

24->27 is costly. You could go with 2x24". The Dell U series (U2410/U2711) are highly regarded. You will still need to calibrate them though, even though they come pre calibrated. My two looked different out of the box in sRGB mode.

I just sold my U2711, the SRGB mode isnt true SRGB, like the bumf says its factory tuned, this is a 110% colour gamut monitor and as such will only produce accurate results if calibrated by yourself and you only use colour managed software, as such everything is over saturated and not a true reflection, what you see isnt always what you get.

I went back to the absolutly remarkable Benq FP241W, simply the best monitor ever made and its not even an IPS screen but M-PVA, stunning. took a while to find one as theyre discontinued.

The HP ZR24W is a good un as well

Thanks guys - I wondered if it was all a bit too good to be true. Looking at the 24" its probably more realistic in terms of my workspace as its a bit tight therefore I dont think I could fit in two monitors and off course its a heck of a lot cheaper.

Interesting to hear feedback from someone who has used this monitor - Cheers Gary

if youre gonna go with a 24 inch, my reccomendation would be to look for 1920x1200 resolution, i hate the limited workspace of the 16x9 widescreen 1920x1080 resolution

dell IPS panels are normally pretty good, youd still need to calibrate regularly however no matter what you get.
