Dell U2410 - which calibrator is best?

Well, I've read and re-read and to be perectly honest I am none the wiser about whether its a good monitor to buy or not. (no reflection on anyone who has contributed to this thread).

So I am still looking and the choice at the mo is Dell u2410 or a Eizo FlexScan (22").

Ho hum....

For what it is worth I have 3 Dell U2410's calibrated by the simple Huey Pro, and find prints match the screen perfectly well, had many pints done at home and labs. I love my U2410's got them setup as extended desktop on my main rig. I have no issues or complaints at all.

I have just taken delivery of a A01 U2410 and my first calibration attempt (using a spyder3 Pro) left a really pink cast on whatever mode (adobe RGB, sRGB etc etc) I chose.

I have just updated the software to the latest version (4.01) and the results are MUCH better. Whites look white and not pink !

So a tick here for a spyder3 pro witrh the latest version of the calibration software.

Just out of curiosity, if you run the white (black to white) test from here with browser opened in fullscreen mode - how do the shadows (black to middlegray) transitions look like? Smooth or with bands?

For those who interested: that link also have standalone Flash executable with various fill screen patterns to test your monitor - it is really good to evaluate your calibration.

U2410 no doubts is a great monitor with a poor service and execution behind it (shame on Dell really). However if that Eizo comes with calibration solution I'd advise to go for that instead.

I don't believe it does.

I think only the new ones and the coloredge come with the built in calibration
