Dereliction In Darwen

There are a number of these terraces in Darwen Lancashire that have been earmarked for demolition, some areas have been cleared for a sports hall/recreation centre and many have been replaced with little orange boxes that I doubt will still be standing in 100+ years. Amazingly even amongst all of this there are still one or two houses occupied. They looked very out of place with the christmas decorations up.

Looks quite sad really doesn't it ... ... are the ones that stay the older generation of diehards who just won't be moved on ...

:p

See alot of these derelict houses in parts Middlesbrough and Stockton, there are always the odd ones occupied, cannot imagine why people would hold out but there are a few reasons;).

Nice pics, think a few would benefit from some B&W processing aswell with all those differing colours and textures. Images are very much reminiscent of the Likely Lads - not sure if anyone outside the North East used to watch that :p

Just watch your back around areas like that, almost always squatters, smack heads, and other low lifes hanging about places like that - if not for shelter, for what they can salvage (lead and copper usually).
