Im not sure where to start, I think im going to pick 5 of the best pictures in each category, but still I want a bit of advice if anyone can kindly dish it out
That's a very confusing/broad question especially if we don't know how many categories you are talking about, what you need the portfolio for etc. Maybe you could be a little more specific?
I wouldn't say more than 15 shots overall. Tailor your portfolio towards the audience it's intended for. No good showing a wedding photographer how much you rock at landscape.
