The best TV programme I've seen this year has to be 'Marvellous' also starring Toby Jones.
It really was marvellous and probably the best thing I've seen for many years I think.100% agree.
I met Nello a number of times at Keele, but had no idea.
Yes, it is very good; Toby Jones is brilliant, and 'Marvellous' really was marvellous.

Detectorists is a quintessential British comedy I think, can be quite deep and poignant at times but it's good gentle humour.Yeah I've really enjoyed it. And the welsh girl the mole fills her skinny jeans rather nicely too.
You should see her in Luther then...
I'm always in two minds about here because she looks like my ex wife!
What you say Jeff has a ring of truth and it sounds like you speak from experience. My criticism of the series so far would be that it's more concerned with relationships than any metal detecting.the series is quiet funny ,the backbiting ,backstabbing ,treachery and sheer greed that goes on in the actual hobby though is totally unreal .remember that some items which are entirely pocketable can be worth as much as a canon 1DX ,i used to reckon on a decent find every hour and a good find once a week ,and a mega find every few weeks .the trouble is that once you find it you can't replace it so eventually a good site becomes barren .and searchable land that a farmer will permit you to search legally becomes a ever decreasing commodity
i speak from 30 years of experience in it ,the only reason i gave up was a bad fall and a arm broken in 5 places left it uncomfortable to dig .then photography took over as well both hobbies being time consuming to boot ,and having done what i aspired to in detecting and found more than my fair share of treasure over the years it was time for a change . my only real regret was back in the 70's i had the opportunity to invest in mel fishers quest to find the atocha and regrettably turned it down .s*** happensWhat you say Jeff has a ring of truth and it sounds like you speak from experience.
