That canon 7d as a special macro servo in it. It's not in the handbook and it only works with a lens that has a USM motor. It's supposed to make the auto focusing for macro shots a lot easier.

It just doubles the AF Sample rate, works on the 7D, 1D4, 1Dx and think the 5DIII. so the AF samples twice as fast as on bodies that dont have it.
