Yes
Been looking to buy a Canon 70-200 L IS.
What is the difference between the Mk1's and Mk2's?

Also how much should i expect to pay for each at 2nd hand prices.

some places that sell them super-cheap are usually too good to be true
so be careful paying a huge drop on the price - you usually wont get the service or quality of something paid for in full at a known or trusted retailer.

There were a few on ebay @ £1500 but they were from international sellers and there was duty/vat to pay so worked out about the same as here.

Think i might buy the F4 as a learning lens then when i go to hong kong next year look at buying a 2.8 with IS.
Just need to reach my minimum limit before i can place a certain add asking for a certain lens.

I bought the MKII from Kerso on here and I have to say, the lens is simply amazing. I can't compare it to the MKI but the speed of the AF and the crispness and clarity of the final result is fantastic. I came into a little bit of money recently and was dithering about which lens to buy when I saw the reviews of the MKII lens. It is expensive but even with my very limited skills and technical knowhow this lens has been a revelation to me. This is my first L series lens and as far as I am concerned, worth every penny!

How much did you spend on that lens? an if you dont mind me asking another question was it with IS?

Yes, the MKII 2.8L has IS. Price at the time, incl delivery was £1824. Expensive yes, worth it, oh yes!

Same here, bought of Kerso for a good price compared to highstreet shops. I had a mkI a while back that I had to sell. I've not really had change to use the mkII yet as I've only had it just over a week but if it's anything like the mkI it will be amazing and then some.

I got the mkII over the mkI because with wanting to buy new it's not that much more expensive than the mkI and I plan to keep it for as long as it lasts (years hopefully) and it seemed best to go for the best I could afford.

I own the MKII and previously owned the MKI.

The MKI is a superb lens but lacked a little sharpness wide open at longer focal lengths - not soft as such, but I tended to drop down to f/3.2 or 3.5 to get a really crisp shot.

The MKII is flat-out amazing! It's so good that the results are impressive with the 2x extender on, even wide open at 400mm! It is as sharp as the 135L prime and sharper than the 200L prime - a staggering bit of engineering!

You will not be disappointed with either lens, but the MKII is fabulous, and I personally would buy the F4 IS version ahead of the MKI 2.8 IS.

Hi Phil.

Thank you for that, i will not be looking at buying a MKII 2.8 non IS with my first camera.

Thanks

Just to be clear - I was referring to IS lenses in my post! I've never tried the 70-200 none IS.
