Difference between Tamron 17-50 F2.8 A16N II and A16N

Sorry, I have a few questions regarding the Tamron 17-50 F2.8 Non VC Nikon Fit.

Please can you let me know:
1. What is the difference between Tamron 17-50 F2.8 A16N II and A16N?

2. Which one is better?

3. When buying A16N second hand what should I look for?

To answer your questions :

A16N II has built-in motor - See here http://www.tamron.co.jp/en/news/release_2008/0128_a16n2.html

2. Which one is better?
Depends on which camera you are going to use it on. D40,D60, D3xxx, D5xxx do not have built in motors. So it will be manual focus only on those bodies.

3. When buying A16N second hand what should I look for?
Make sure the optics are clear and make sure everything is in full working order. Ask for sample shots.

I have a d90 so it should work okay and have asked for additional info so will wait and see.

To be honest - I dont know the answer to that one - however there is a price difference between the VC and Non-VC versions.

From what I had read on the net - earlier VC versions (1st gen) weren't as sharp as the non VC. I actually purchased a non VC version - (i'm sure it has the built in motor in my one).
