Looking into buying an older lens for my canon, can you by adapters for these lenses? The 2 different fittings I'm looking at are FD and STD!!
Any help would be useful to save me buying a lemon!!

SRB Griturn are the people to go to for adaptors. Not cheap but they work! Plenty of cheap adaptors available but many are best dropped in a G&T as the slice...

Thanks, it seems as though there has been another thread started about this which has put me off!!

Don't be put off, just be cautious what you buy.

Nikon F, M42, Pentax K, Contax/Yaschica CY and several others are good value and very usable with a good adapter. It is important to choose a lens with an Auto-Manual aperture switch if it has an automatic aperture.

You can adapt most other lenses to a Canon mount as Canon's register distance is smaller than the others leaving a little bit of room for an adaptor.

The worst camera to have in terms of adapting other lenses is Nikon as they have the longest register distance.

However, it is still possible. Today I finished putting a Nikon mount (off an old, third party Nikon fit lens) onto an M42 mount Helios 44 lens. But I had to take off the original mount and machine an interface plate to fit the new mount to the lens at the right distance. Probably not worth the bother in most cases and I only really did it to prove a point.
