Beginner Digital camera sensor size

Smaller the sensor, the greater the apparent focal length of the lens. The actual focal length is unchanged but the smaller sensor discards the wider angles that a larger sensor would catch.
 
If you take a APS-C sensor size 16x24mm (or thereabouts depending on brand) the higher the pixel count the greater the noise but newer cameras are getting better and better all the time.

The greater the number of pixels poses a challenge for items that might moved during exposure, whether the camera or the subject as the tiniest detail can be captured on neighbouring pixels meaning when the image is magnified it doesn't look quite as sharp in the finished image meaning you have to consider using faster shutter speeds to freeze movement.

For any given sensor size, you can fit more "pixels" on if they're smaller.

Smaller "pixels" (! photosites ! Remembered the term!) generally result in less good high ISO performance and, as Peter said, increased sensitivity to subject and camera movement. At some point, photosite density will beat a lens's capabilities too.

Please play nice - the poor students have been pointed here by a lazy tutor (if last time is anything to judge by) and don't realise that asking us to do their homework for them isn't exactly what we're here for.
