Digital camera woes

Hello all,

As in the title really.

I recently purchased a Panasonic Lumix FZ38 camera, I have been getting to grips with it recently and making progress. However I have run into a problem, whenever I take anymore than 15 pictures from the 16th one onwards cannot be viewed and if I take anymore they cannot be viewed either, I get a message telling me I am unable to view the picture and cannot delete them either.

The thing is when I take it out and put the memory card into my laptop the file is there but it cannot be viewed it tells me I need to update my photoviewer (I run windows 7 with latest updates). The memory card is a Kingston 8GB SDHC class 6 memory card and is "supposed" to be compatible with the camera (says in the manual it is). It's not storing them to internal memory, they are definitely being stored to the memory card.

It's really stressing me out and winding me up.

Has anyone got any ideas on what it could be? I'm kind of struggling, I have emailed Panasonic but could be waiting up to a week for a reply, I want to get out and start practicing but this holding me back.

Any help is very much appreciated

Possibly a faulty memory card? where did you get the card from? mos cards on ebay and other market place type shops are fake.

Advice would be to try another memory card preferably one bought from a reputable suppler like my memory, 7 day shop or anyone that is a business from the UK not an individual selling via the internet site that enable anyone and everyone to sell stuff.

Thanks for that, the card was bought from ebay, could it be as simple as that? I hope not or I am going to look quite the fool.

What would you suggest for my camera then? The manual says it needs to be class 6 or higher. I have been looking at THIS but with you saying that about ebay I am now dubious of buying.

Never heard of Ex-Pro myself. Sounds like they used to be professionals? (lol)

Go for a reputable brand such as Sandisk or Lexar. Don't always go with the cheapest option, because they're likely to be fakes and you'll just run into those problems again :(

7dayshop seem to pop up when anyone asks about memory cards on here, I'd give them a go if I were you :)

You could try to format the card in your laptop, format it as 32 bit. This might get the card working again. Your card reader on the laptop must support 'SDHC' to do this. If it does not just stick to 4Gb non 'HC' type cards.

Does sound like it unfortunately :shake:

As has been said, Play, 7 day shop or Amazon are all worth a look as is the classifieds on here, you could always post a 'wanted' ad as well :)

Just thought I would let you know, it was a dodgy card I now have a new card and have snapped at least 50 piccies and they can be viewed fine.

So thanks to all for the help much appreciated.
