Hi,

I am looking to get one for someone as a present. I have absolutely no idea what is best, or what to look for.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

hi anthony i had a look at these last year what type of card are you using some of them read straight from the card others have an onboard memory depending how much memory you want they vary in price quite dramaticaly they do have a good selction in www.pcworld.co.uk hope this helps

Just keep an eye on the screen resolution. Some of the cheaper ones are a naff resolution. The Philips brand have always been rated good but pricey.
 
I've got the Sony 7'' one and despite being 15:4 (???) its stunning. I bought it for my Dad's 60th and loaded it up with photos. It comes with a handy remote too. Brilliant device. I hear that by Xmas we may have Sony Wifi frames that can subscribe to RSS feeds.

Yeah good point, looking at the one i linked to the res is a bit low.

Thats the one. Only one issue I've had is when it turns on automatically in the morning it thinks the card is corrupt so you have to take it out and put it in again. I'm not sure if thats because the card is 4 years old and a cheap brand or the display.

i agree with hepburn on this vlow res not so good i think the one i saw was philips go to your pc world and ask for a demo knowing what you know now the'll be shocked when you ask what res it is or how big internal memory is etc you can still buy on line so it will be cheaper:thumbs:
 
When I looked in this thread I had to laugh when I saw that the TPF sponsors ad at the top of the page was for Digital Frames :lol:
 
try eBuyer for stuff like that, they're usually dirt cheap, and I've never had a problem with them no matter what I've ordered.
 
Well i ended up getting the sony one, so thanks to everyone for your advice. im very pleased with it. It does auto orientation, screen is brilliant, colours are lovely!!!

Very happy camper :)
