Hi guys as the title says my local collage does a 10 week Beginners/Intermediate coarse which they say is good for people who wants to get the best out of there camera.
I wanted to ask if anyone has ever done anything like this and are they useful or just a waste of money

Thanks
Gareth

I have just enrolled on one of these and had my first lesson this Tuesday just gone. The class is a mix of people with compacts, bridge and SLR's so the lesson covers everything some which might not be relevant to using an SLR. Also a homework is set once a week which has given me the motivation to go out and photo instead of sitting at home in the warm!

The reason I decided to do one of these courses is unlike a one day course you get more regular feedback about your work and also the chance to think of questions to ask at the next lesson. Also I am ok with the technical side of things like how aperture, shutter speed and ISO all effect the outcome but I need to learn more based on how to compose a good image.

Talk to them! I teach those sort of courses at one of my local colleges. Yours should be able to put you in touch with the tutor. I get regular requests from prospective students who want to know if it's suitable for them.

thanks guys,
Going to try and get chance to give the collage a call and ask more about the collage.
looking on their website the starting date was on 9th so ill need to ask if missing the frist couple of weeks makes much difference

I did two courses back end of last year in Cambridgeshire [Minute place called Ramsey, but nothing else in the Peterborough, Huntingdon area].
The course was good, but a lot of it is who is the Tutor and who is on the course, we were lucky, pro Aircraft Photographer tutor and we wanted to be pushed. Its luck of the draw.
