I've had my D5100 about 9 months now. My question is should I buy better glass or upgrade to the D7100 or D600?

I'm struggling with no comander mode and no high speed shutter with flash.

I am still using the kit lenses (18-55 & 55-200 VR) as well as Sigma 10-20, 35 f1.8 & 70-200OS.

I will probably buy a 150-500 this week and was looking at a 85 (maybe Nikkor or Samyang).

I like the D5100 flip screen but hate the fact I have to use it (it kills the battery & destroys night vision). I also like the time lapse function.

Your commnents please.

D600 if you have the cash, just bear in mind most of your lenses are DX and not compatible if you do get a D600.

What do you, primarily,photograph?

Travel Photography. So anything from portraits, extreme sports airshows, landscapes & wildlife. Unlikely to use close up. Definately no intention to ever use a studio (except for fun, learning).

A diary to my travels basically.

what lenses would you recommend?
My total budget for now is about £1300. A D90/7000 would set me back >£400

I'm sure you could get a second hand d90/700 for cheaper.

The samyang 85 f1.4 is awesome! I'd recommend a 17-50 f2.8 tamron to replace the kit lens, a couple of speed lights (either cls compatible or separate triggers). Yo already have some great lenses - 35f1.8 and a 70-200 os and a decent wide too.
