Yes
I have a 18-55mm AF-S Nikkor lens. I have been on holiday and used the camera heavily every day for 2weeks (over 2k shots in total). I noticed the day before i came home that the zoom now feels quite rough and makes a very faint grinding noise.
I'm worried there may be some a foreign body in the mechanism.
can i fix this myself? how do i go about it?

Sounds like a load of grit and dust has managed to find its way in and is causing the problem. TBH, I would carry on using the lens until it gets too much to bear then replace it, possibly upgrading at the same time.

True. it is only a cheapy kit lens. just wondered if there may be a "quick-fix" solution.
