Hi

I have a D40. There is a smudge mark on left hand side of the picture, but I can't work out where the mark is.

(I can see the one on right too, thats just crap on the lens)

It looks ok through the viewfinder but once the photo is taken the mark appears. Does it with both lenses. Cleaned the inside but suspect it is somwhere I can't see.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Cheers.

Done and dusted, no pun intended.

Wish I had figured it out before! I noticed on the first shot, still taken over 600 lol. Cropping most anyway so won't matter.

I even went into the mirror lock up function. Not enough practise and too many beers!!

yep what they say , look for tutorials on here about doing it as you have to be carefull when cleaning the senser hope this helps :)

The main reason for me in using manual sensor cleaning is the camera needs to be turned off to close the curtain/shutter and mirror drop, with that way in the video you run the risk of accidentally activating the capture button, thus closing the shutter trap any swabs you are using or blower,as well as hitting the mirror.
