Disneyland - Which Lens?

Hi all,

Am in Paris visiting the in-laws and we will be taking our 4 year old daughter to Disneyland tomorrow.

I bought my 50mm f1.8 and my sigma 18-200mm f3.5 with me.

I don't want to be changing lens all the time so just want to take the one with me so I was wondering which lens you guys would use for a day at Disneyland?

Thanks in advance

I would say the 18-200, there are many panoramic views that the 50mm will not be wide enough for. Also if you go to the studios and see the motor show you will want the zoom for this.

I went to Florida and did all the parks last year, long story short...!!!

Took a D300 with Nikon 18-200
Got a D700 at the airport but only had my 50mm that was FF.

Took different cameras to both but would probably recommend 18-200 based on the parade floats going past and needing a bit of length and needing to go wide to get the full castle into one picture etc....

That said, the 50mm is a beauty and will not really take up much space in your bag...!!

Crash

I went there earlier this year and took my CZ 16-80, which was sufficient for most things. There were a few additional shots I could have used something longer, but not enough that I'd have wanted the added weight of my 70-300!
The 50 would have been too restrictive, IMHO.

the fifty - but naturally I would say that wouldn't I...

I personally took the IXUS as could not be faffing around with trying to hold onto a camera bag which whizzing around on rollercoasters :)

the 50 is the far better lens BUT not great for this sort of trip, so the 18-200 is the one. You will need zoom and wideangle while there. While shots with the 50mm will be better, you will miss a lot of shots.

I went to Florida recently and barely had my camera out the bag. It's a nightmare putting it in lockers all the time to go on rides. There were only three of us and we all went on the rides so there was no-one to hold the camera till we came off. If i went back again i probably wouldn't even bother with my camera. If you have people to hold the camera for you till you do whatever you're doing then it will be fine and the 18-200 is the way to go.

Went to Florida in may, and after doing eurodisney last year only took a compact.

Didn't miss the dslr at all.

If you do take the dslr, got a lower tlz2 or similar so you can have it on your belt.

That made quite a difference for me. Make sure your cam fits before buying it though :D:D
