Hi All

I am a retired person. Next week will be the first meeting of a new photographic group I am forming. There will be ten to start with and more have expressed interest.

I want to get them all taking and displaying there pictures for C+C but only between the group.

Printing would be the obvious answer but, we are all pensioners, and the cost involved in these hard times make it a less attractive option.

Would something like Flickr be an answer? They claim it is private. If I joined Flickr could others post in my section and leave comments and it still remain private?

I hope you have understood what I am trying to achieve. If any of you have any advice or a brilliant idea please help us.

Some of the members have limited computer skills so it must be easy and not put them at risk on the internet.

Some times its great to be old and have the time to do whatever you want, but some times I think I am old enough to know better than get myself into this.

Graham.

You can set-up a private Flickr group, the group permissions can be tweaked to give varying levels of privacy with seperate settings for the group pool of images and the group discussions.

If you want comments against images to be private, you'll need to set-up Contact/Friend/Family only permissions in your own account against these images.

Printing might not be such a big expense if you shop around. If you all bulked up into one order per month to spread the postage charges, DSCL are extremely good value for printing.

Good luck with the new venture ... I wish you every success

if you put up were you live graham then there may be somebody on here local to you to help you or your members setup a flicker account:thumbs:

I live in SW France (66740). I know there are other members in France and Spain but I don't think there are any near me. Thank you for the idea.

I would have people bring high resolution images on a USB stick or external hard drive. Then put them all onto a computer at the meeting. Much better than seeing little pictures online.

Depends where you're meeting of course. If one of you has a nice 27 inch monitor, I'd suggest do it at their place. ;)

I have considered this and may well end up doing it this way in the end. I must do something quickly or members will go of the boil, I can always change things. Thanks for your input.
