Hi all here i be again.
I had some problems with my monitor display, had to have a new graphics card fitted, now i have some ghosting and was wondering what settings i should be set at, as i can't remember what it was before.

I have HP W2216 monitor. 18.5" X 11.5" screen = 22" corner to corner. should i have to reload the software that came with the monitor?.

any ideas please.

You don't normally need to install monitor drivers as most OSes handle most monitors quite happily but on occasion some monitors just work far better with their own drivers installed. Did the monitor come with any drivers? You should get a decent enough picture with the default settings if the driver is correct.

Maybe the resolution isn't set correctly?

Hmmm....

According to the HP website the display resolution should be set to:

1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz

Try that and report back please.

Had the monitor a few months, drivers were loaded on first getting the monitor, If i have had a new card would this make any difference to the drivers, would i have to reload them?.

Thanks

Hi Rob.
I have made that setting, but still seem to be getting some ghosting.
Setting set at 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz 32bit.

Thanks

HP suggests on there trouble shooter, its because i'm using an extention on the VGA.
So i have just unplugged it, moved the screen with in range, plugged the lead straight into the tower and the ghosting has gone. i know i did not have this on the old card, but at least it has given me the answer..
Now i have to find a longer VGA lead...:bonk:

Excellent news!

You may may have noticed the time I posted my question.... I got to bed about five hours later....

I've just had a eureka moment - "DISPLAY CABLE!!" - and came on over to the 'puter to post, to find you'd already got there :)

Glad you've found the problem
