Hello everyone - Hope you've all had a good christmas and are going to have a good new year! :)

I am currently in my 3rd and final year of my degree, doing my dissertation on the effects of anthropogenic noise on passerine birds.

I need to clear it up with my supervisor first (7th Jan uni opens again) I am thinking of compiling together around 2/4 (have to be in even numbers!) pictures of Sparrows, Blue Tits, Robins, Chaffinch, but other generalist birds would be useful, maybe a few specialist too a Skylark would be AMAZING!! - so would it be possible me private messaging some bird photographers to use your picture in my final project.

Will be in Harvard reference style, Won't be able to be any special other bits of text than it is below. Furthermore there will be a front page which has a title of the pictures used in the Dissertation and you're name goes there too. (y)

Code:
SURNAME, INITIAL, YEAR., Description or title of image [Online image]. Available From: URL. Date Accessed

This reference might change, as I say I need to clear everything up with my Supervisor which should be in the next few weeks.

So who wouldn't mind me contacting them? - As IMHO it's better to ask the photographer themselves than searching around on google and then the high risk of referencing the wrong person.

Thanks.
James.

Hi James,

I'm not a specialist wildlifer, but do tend to shoot the birds on my garden feeder. Would that sort of thing be any good?

Hi John, they're perfect thank you!! :D

And thanks Pitvar, replying now.

OK, let me know if you want them. You may get some more answers, so I'll hang on for a bit. As well as sparrow and woodpecker, I have starlings, blue & great tits and, I think, a finch or two, all using the same feeder (have to dig out the file to be sure). Do you want them all in the same aspect, ie portrait or landscape? And whoever you use will need to know what size/shape/dpi you're after.

I don't think I'd use a Dendrocopos major pic in a report on passerines ;)

Oops! Is it not one? Absolutely my fault, then. I only have two classifications for birds:
1: Those that stay in front of my lens for long enough to be photographed
2: Others

I had not come across the word 'passerine' until James posted it.

:D

To be perfectly honest, five years ago I wouldn't have known the difference either!
