I already own a numer of bags, both shoulder and back-pack styles to carry and store my kit, however I have just got a Sigma 170 - 500mm to stick on the front of m 20D. For thse of you who own this lens you will know that when slung over your shoulder the zoom creeps out so you end up holding it horizontal. I wanted a bag to hold my camera and lens, with hood fitted which was lightweight and functional, but not a holster type. The wife was not impressed when I said I was going to spend a hundred odd quid on yet another bag, so I had to rethink. Remember this is just for carrying when out and about.
1) Went to TKMax and got a shoulder bag for under £10
2) Got some foam from a old storage case in the garage and made an insert by wrapping in duck tape.
3) Drop into bag and hey-presto, a horizontal carrying bag for my 20D, 170 -500mm with hood attached for around £10.
Ok so its not a Billingham, but it suits the purpose.
