DIY Tripod Qucik-Release

I know they're not mega-money, but I quite fancy making my own as a mini-project. not really sure where to start though.

Has anyone done this before or can anyone advise on a particular style to go for???

Look up arca swiss style.
They are the best (and also a remarkably simple concept, pretty easy to make if you have a few skills with metal) and if you can make something that uses an arca swiss plate you open up a whole world of interesting mounting options.

ah, yes! looks like a plan, I will have a go at putting something together, it may be a while, but i'll put some pictures of the finished article here.
