PHOTOGRAPHER DISCOVERS THAT WIDE ANGLE LENSES CAUSES DISTORTION! AND MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENTIRE EUROZONE CRISIS!!!

Someone got paid to write that?

"Photographer Stephen Eastwood has finally solved the mystery"

What you mean a portrait lens gives a better shot than a wide angle for faces.... all this time look and we never knew that, well done Stephen for putting us on the right track. Only problem is I could have told you that 40 years ago.

Sarcasm won't get you brownie points. but it is the daily fail with a load of nonsense yet again. That makes it ok :)

Another pointless news article and just shows that some internet sites can do edited information well (like The Week). Others such as the DM should stick to selling papers rather than trying to update their websites with any old rubbish.....

Liking the DM's quality control over its captions though - Mr Eastwood's first name is apparently Seven. It's not like they's even missed a 't' out because it's spelt with a 'ph' further up. Morons.....

I'm doing a bit of research myself on the relationship between the size of the aperture and resultant Depth of Focus. It's all hush-hush at the minute but as soon as I've confirmed my findings I'll be going straight to the Daily Mail. Fame and fortune awaits....;)

Ohhhh errrrrr tell us more...... ;)

Shows how bad the article is when you notice he is using a Canon camera, say no more!!! ;);):lol::lol:

That's nothing - I've discovered that there's this little round button on the top of my camera, next to some display thing. If I press it all the way down, my camera makes a funny clicking sound and then the display on the back lights up with all sorts of pretty colours. It's like I've just squeezed a whole scene into my camera... I'll do a full write-up soon to illustrate my findings, but I think I'm onto something here...

Wow, investigative journalism at its best. I can reveal that tomorrow's DM headline is "Rain is Wet! Scientist's Shock Discovery!"

I'm surprised they don't attempt to link this bizarre distortion phenomenon with cancer.

Or nazi-terrorist-white supremacists with wooden legs who have 18 kids and are claiming benefit in eight different names. While they build a mosque. On green-belt land.

I'll be interested in this as the aperture has no bearing on Depth of Focus.

To be fair to the OP, most DM readers wouldn't know what lenses and focal lengths were if you inserted them up their anuses (or should that be anii?) In fact, the journalist who wrote the article probably doesn't either.

That one post sums up the DM in all its glory

you forgot about the pregnant lesbian teenager at the Social complaining , in her pyjamas at 3PM, that she and 5 sprogs ''ain't had a hol in Blackpool for at least 4 months''

It does, but not much to be fair. In my haste to post a smart @r5ed sarcastic reply I typed Focus instead of Field.

But just wait until you see what I'm about to conclude about light levels and exposure....

Sorry, Chris, I got the inside scoop on that one too... Here's the theory, and it's a work in progress - the more light there is, then... well, you might read about it in the Daily Fail soon enough... ;)

Seems like we have two threads running the same things (aside from the Eurozone thingy) :)....

Not any more ;).
Now excuse me while I just pop off to sort out the Eurozone :D

Wow!!!
Just imagine if once you'd managed to trap that whole scene in your camera there was a way to get it back out again so that you could look at it at a bigger size.

That's just crazy talk.:cuckoo:

Not so fast... All you need to do is connect your camera to this special box of bits and pieces with a shiny picture window thingy using a USB cable... which, I think you'll find, stands for 'Unique Scenery Biggeriser'. Simples!

Should I get them to hold the front page?

LMFAO....USB

right first time: anuses, like sinuses, campuses, viruses, etc.
