Do I change my backup cam for a new lens?

As title, I nearly always shoot with my 5Dmk2 but have a Mk1 as a back up, now obviously this nearly is never used and iv got my eye on a lens worth about the same as the mk1 ...... is it wise to go ahead with this, obviously I get the need for a back up but when has anyones 5dMk2 ever failed real world?

Everything is also insured, if the mk2 failed how long would the turn around be on repair?, I could just get a £120 back up canon camera like a 350D ?

Do you make your living from photography or is it just a hobby? If it's a hobby then ditch the unused backup while it's still worth something if you make your living doing this then keep the backup as you never know.

If you taking on paid work not having a back up body seems silly, unless of course this work isn't time critical so you would have time to get a repair done or rent a replacement.

Yeah its defo useful to have but of course most of the time its sitting in my bag, which plays on ones mind as I see it doing little. I know id cope with a 350D for 48 hours no problems, its reasonably time critical in that I usually have 3-4 jobs a week on the go and it would be bad to miss any.
