No
Me and my son are getting into photography.

I have A D60 with a:

AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR
55x200 non VR
70x300 VR

Do I need any other lenses, I keep seeing lenses for sale with an f/2.5……
Will it work on a D60? What are the advantages?

A friend said something like… the D60 will make a smaller lens perform like a 35mm  I have no Idea what he is talking about :bonk:

F2.8 is usually the aperture. It's a whole stop faster than an f4 lens, which means you'd get twice as fast a shutter speed as you would with an f4 lens, and four times faster than you would with an f5.6 lens. It can mean the difference between getting the shot or not in poor light. Larger apertures also mean a brighter image in the viewfinder and better AF too.

On the downside they tend to be heavier (those larger pieces of glass are heavy) and far more expensive than lenses with a a more moderate max aperture. Whether it's worth it to you depends how much you'd use it and what type of photography you do.

I'm not sure what your friend meant by his 35mm remark - more info needed. :)

what cedric said - also your friend is probably taking about the crop factor / mm

I think his friend is talking about the sensor size and how croped sensor camera will normally have a 1.6x multy factor

Yes, I think he said something about cropping :cuckoo:
