Recently my dad found his old camera which is one of these.

it comes with a nikon 50mm f1.4 and 28mm f2.8 lens which i think it look like the AI manual nikon lens.

I use a nikon d7000 and would like to try these manual lens on my camera, was wondering what mount i need to get to mount this on my d7000?

It is absolutely not an M42 lens.

Don't try to mount it yet, if it's pre-AI it will damage your digital camera. You can only mount AI lenses. What are the serial numbers on the lenses? The best thing to do is show a picture of them. If there are two sets of f/ numbers by the mount, you *should* be okay - if there is only one row, they should not be mounted on your Nikon.

The beauty of the Nikon system is that if they are AI lenses, you will be able to mount them on your D7000 straight! :)

That's correct. The 50mm is pre-AI, and communicates with the Nikkormat via the "rabbit ear" coupling prong. Another giveaway is that pre-AI coupling prongs are solid, rather than with holes like AI/AI-S lenses. If it's in good condition, pre-AI 50mm f/1.4s are still worth a fair amount of money, they are excellent pieces of glass.

That 28mm f/2.8 is a Series E AI-S lens, but I believe it has had a coupling prong added by a 3rd party at some point, in order to get the lens to communicate with the Nikkormat. Series E lenses did not come with a coupling prong as standard from the factory.

As you have already discovered, the 28mm will work fine - make sure you dial in the focal length and f/2.8 in the non-CPU lens data menu on the D7000. The 50mm will not work, and AI conversions these days are often quite expensive and are often bespoke.

Could I interest you in maybe buying a roll of film and running a roll through the Nikkormat with the 50mm f/1.4?
 
actually the two lens was given by my dad along with the Nikkormat FT2 so the 50mm is already mounted on the camera. I think i will leave the 50mm on the film camera and use that on it instead since i already got a 50mm f1.8D for my D7000.

The 28mm f2.8 AI is a interesting one to use, i quite like it on my D7000 actually so i could make use of that when shooting landscape.
 
Most prime lenses utilise a relatively simple optical design, and many of the primes of yesteryear will often have very similar, if not identical design - the modern lenses having aspherical, ED and multi-coated elements to its advantage, but the older lenses will certainly still deliver the goods.
 
when i first put on the 28mm i didn't set the non cpu data and the result was pretty bad when using it ......

but after some research and advice i found out i have to program the non cpu data on the camera then once that done the camera take care of the shutter speed and the lens works like a dream. Love the lens now, thanks to my dad actually lol.

it certainly give something to think of now with 28mm, 35mm and 50mm prime i got. time to save up for a nice 85mm samyang prime :)
 
on my 28mm AIS lens i guess i don't need to take that rabbit ear off to mount it right? it won't damage my camera by leaving it on? am i correct?
 
Although it's a 3rd party addition it looks kosher to me - you'll be fine. On a camera like the D7000 it's only a cosmetic thing anyway, the lens communicates with the body with a ring around the lens mount.
 
I've got the 50mm and 35mm E series lenses and considering they were Nikons consumer line they are stunningly sharp. I use mine mainly on my F3 and they both produce excellent results.
